DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 39 (Textiles) The title polyesters are manufd. from prepolymers of arom. dicarboxylic acids and C2-10 alkylene glycols or cyclohexanedimethanol (CO2H content .ltoreq.2000 .mu.equiv./g and intrinsic viscosity .ltoreq.0.10), and a metal salt of a sulfonated bis(hydroxyalkyl) ester of an arom. dicarboxylic acid. Thus, 55 g/min of a charge contg. terephthalic acid 18,143.6, ethylene glycol 13,607.7, pentaerythritol 2.24, triphenyl phosphite 16.80, LiOAc.H2O 13.44, antifoaming agent 1.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 3965-55-7 and 26471-52-3 are used here.00, polyethyleneglycol monoalkyl ether 220.6, Mn(OAc)2.4H2O 4.75, 2,2'-ethylenedioxybis(1,3,2-dioxastibolane) 11.20, and TiO2 67.2 g was fed to a reactor at 250.degree. and 97.6 kg/m2 and remained for an av. residence time of 2.5 h, giving a prepolymer with intrinsic viscosity 0.07 and terminal CO2H group concns. 760 .mu.equiv./g. The prepolymer compn. was fed at 55 g/min into a second reactor together with 7.26 g/min of a 21% ethyleneglycol soln. of bis(2-hydroxyethyl) 5-sulfoisophthalate Na salt [24019-46-3] to a reactor at 230.degree. and 260 mm, and remained for a residence time of 2.3 h. This products was further polycondensed at a temp. of 265.degree. and 1.6 mm for .apprx.1.9 h and then spun into a continuous filament yarn with intrinsic viscosity 0.54, terminal CO2H group content 20 .mu.equiv./g, diethylene glycol content 1.5% wt., and m.p. 249.degree.. The yarn had strength 3.5 g/denier, and had basic dye uptake 103 Mequiv./g. .
