Di-tert-butyl nitroxide with cas registry number of 2406-25-9 is also known as 1,1,1',1'-Tetramethylzoxyethane ; Di-tert-butyl nitroxide ; Di-tert-butyl nitroxyl ; Di-t-butyl nitroxide ; (Tert-C4H9)2NO ; Di-t-Butylnitroxyl ; Dtbn ; Nitroxide, di-tert-butyl . It is stable under normal temperatures and pressures but it also should be stored in a cool, dry place when not in use. Di-tert-butyl nitroxide can be decomposed in aqueous solutions to produce 2-Methyl-2-nitroso propane and Tert-butanol . It is a useful organic synthesis intermediate.
