- Protective properties of complex calcium lubricants
- Protective properties of complex calcium lubricants. Kosarskaya, Yu. P.; Ishchuk, Yu. L.; Fuks, I. G.; Fedorova, T. V. (Mosk. Inst. Neftekhim. Gazov. Prom. im. Gubkina, Moscow, USSR). Neftepererab. Neftekhim. (Kiev), 14, 42-6 (Russian) 1976. CODEN: NEFNBY. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) A series of model complex Ca-soap lubricants was prepd., and their protective properties were evaluated. Effects of the type and compn. of the dispersion medium, the saponifiable component, and the concn. of the urea succinimide (I) [63770-74-1] corrosion inhibitor were studied. The presence of arom. hydrocarbons in the dispersion medium (base oil) is shown to improve the lubricant strength, effective viscosity, and colloidal stability. A selective purifn. ext., contg. 84.0% arom. hydrocarbons (highest tested), gave the highest values. Lubricants prepd. from vacuum distillate and raffinate were considerably improved by a heat treatment, while those from exts. slightly deteriorated. An ext.-based lubricant completely prevented corrosion of metal under test conditions. The Ca lubricants prepd. with an S-220 paraffino-naphthenic oil were compared with those made with dioctyl sebacate [2432-87-3], the pentaerythritol ester of C3-C9 synthetic fatty acids, the PES-S-1 polysiloxane liq., and 1:1 mixts. of the above. The synthetic-based Ca lubricants gave the same metal protection, and a better water-resistance, than the petroleum oil-based ones. In comparing the saponifiable components, the lubricants made with stearic acid or 12-hydroxystearic acid were found to have the same corrosion, water-resistance, and metal protection properties, while those made with the C10-20 fraction of synthetic fatty acids were inferior. The addn. of I to lubricants based on the S-220 oil gave better rheol. properties. The optimum I concn. was 0.1%, when a 6-fold increase in the protective properties (7 days in sea water) was obsd. The oxidn. stability of the lubricants was slightly lowered by the presence of I, but the oxidized complex Ca lubricants gave slightly better protection of metal against electrochem. corrosion. The wear properties were hardly affected by the presence of I.

- Cleansing of drums used for heat-treatment of polyester fibers. Yoshimitsu, Naokata; Inoue, Seishiro; Shibata, Kiyoshi; Kamata, Shigeyoshi; Tanaka, Hiroshi (Toray Industries, Inc., Japan). Japan. Kokai JP 52032951 12 Mar 1977 Showa, 3 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: B29C003-00. APPLICATION: JP 75-108526 9 Sep 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 39 (Textiles) Heat-treated fibers with improved drum cleansing efficiency were prepd. by passing drawn poly(ethylene terephthalate) (I) fibers over a heated drum for a period and cleansing the drum with an ester plasticizing agent with the flashing temp. .gtoreq.180.degree., e.g., dioctyl sebacate (II) [2432-87-3]. Thus, drawn fibers were passed over a drum at 190.degree. for 2 weeks. On cleansing the resulting drum with II, the time required for heating the drum was 0 h, compared with 6.0 h for a drum cleansed with an alc.
