Preparation of iodine-125 from irradiated xenon difluoride
Preparation of iodine-125 from irradiated xenon difluoride. Hradilek, P.; Kronrad, L.; Kopicka, K. (Ustav Jad. Vyzk., Rez, Czech.). Radioisotopy, 26(1), 28-37 (Czech) 1985. CODEN: RAISBC. ISSN: 0322-8657. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 71 (Nuclear Technology) Section cross-reference(s): 8 The radionuclide 123I [14158-31-7] is formed by the n irradn. of 124Xe. Solid XeF2 is encapsulated in an Al tube and irradiated by using a n flux of 5 ′ 1013 n/cm2-s in a nuclear reactor. After 80 h of irradn., 30-40 GBq of 125I is obtained. The samples after the irradn. must be stored 34 days, and for the sepn., the Al tube is cooled by liq. N, perforated, placed in a specially designed app. and heated to 650°. The mixt. of gaseous XeF2 and 125I is carried by a stream of dry N2 into the absorber filled with granulated Al2O3 and kept at 120°. XeF2 is converted into nonvolatile AlF3, and 125I is absorbed. The temp. of the absorber is increased to 800°, and thus 125I is selectively desorbed and successively sorbed in 1-5 mL of 0.01M NaOH. The resulting Na125I [24359-64-6] soln. is suitable for medical purposes and has the following properties: vol. activity min. 3.7 GBq/mL; radiochem. purity min. 95%; radionuclide purity min. 99%; and pH 7-10.
Investigation of radiopharmaceuticals for pancreatic imaging: accumulation of amines in the pancreas
Investigation of radiopharmaceuticals for pancreatic imaging: accumulation of amines in the pancreas. Saji, Hideo; Kuge, Yuji; Magata, Yasuhiro; Fujibayashi, Yasuhisa; Yokoyama, Akira (Fac. Pharm. Sci., Kyoto Univ., Kyoto 606, Japan). Chem. 24359-64-6 and 100839-41-6 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article. Pharm. Bull., 40(1), 161-4 (English) 1992. CODEN: CPBTAL. ISSN: 0009-2363. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 8 (Radiation Biochemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 25, 63 To develop radiopharmaceuticals for pancreatic imaging, radioiodinated ethylbenzene derivs. contg. various functional groups (amino, carboxyl, and Me groups) were synthesized and the effects of these functional groups were compared in vitro and in vivo. At 2 min after i.v. injection, the amino deriv., 2-(4-iodophenyl)-N,N-dimethylethylamine, displayed about twice the pancreatic uptake and a more than 8-fold higher pancreas/liver ratio than the carboxyl and Me derivs. This high and selective in vivo accumulation on the amino deriv. in the pancreas was well supported by in vitro studies on the uptake by pancreatic tissue slices. The mechanism promoting pancreatic accumulation of radiopharmaceuticals with an amino group is also discussed. .
