DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) The new systemic compds. metalaxyl [57837-19-1], benalaxyl [71626-11-4], cyprofuran [69581-33-5], propamocarb [24579-73-5], and fosetyl Al [39148-24-8] and 2 std. protectants, etridiazole [2593-15-9] and captafol [2425-06-1], were compared for in vitro effects on representative isolates of P. palmivora from cocoa and durian. Metalaxyl, etridiazole and cyprofuran were highly inhibitory to mycelial growth, sporangium and chlamydospore prodn., direct sporangium germination and germ-tube development of both cocoa and durian isolates, whereas benalaxyl was moderately inhibitory. Etridiazole and benalaxyl were more suppressive on zoospore germination; metalaxyl and cyprofuran were relatively ineffective. Captafol was also highly suppressive to mycelial growth, and direct sporangium and zoospore germination, but less so on sporangium and chlamydospore prodn. Propamocarb and fosetyl Al were the least effective against all the developmental stages of the isolates except in the case of zoospore germination of the durian isolate, where the latter was highly inhibitory.

The effectiveness of 6 antioomycetes fungicides for the control of Pythium species was compared. Etridiazole [2593-15-9], propamocarb [24579-73-5], phosethyl-Al [39148-24-8], metalaxyl [57837-19-1], furalaxyl [57646-30-7], and fenaminosulf [140-56-7] were tested as soil applications. All fungicides gave a statistically significant limitation of the disease. Phosetyl-Al (1.6 g/m2) showed inhibition comparable with the ref. fungicide etridiazole.There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 39148-24-8 and 57837-19-1 in this article. Propamocarb (7 g/m2), metalaxyl (0.5 g/m2), and furalaxyl (0.25 g/m2) were significantly more effective when compared with etridiazole and fenaminosulf. Only metalaxyl induced redn. of plant growth at the highest applied concn. (1 g/m2). .
