- Compositions containing phenol resin, polyisocyanate, and petroleum oil. Graham, Joseph (Minnesota Mining and Mfg. Co., USA). Ger. Offen. DE 2705648 18 Aug 1977, 36 pp. (German). (Germany). CODEN: GWXXBX. CLASS: IC: C08L061-06. PRIORITY: US 76-656536 9 Feb 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) A curable compn. for filling holes and defects in veneer wood consists of an oil-sol. phenolic resin, hydrocarbon oils, a polyisocyanate, and a catalyst. The compn. is liq. and cures to a sandable product which is unreactive with respect to the moisture of the wood. Thus, a compn. of p-tert-butylphenol-formaldehyde copolymer [25085-50-1] 25.65, hydrocarbon oil A (45% arom. oil, 52.8% paraffin oil, and 2.2% other additives) 34.20, hydrocarbon oil B (92.2% arom. oil and 3.8% paraffin oil) 25.65, Mondur MRS [9016-87-9] polyisocyanate 25, hollow glass microspheres 12.50, silica 1.70, and N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine [98-94-2] catalyst 0.30 wt. parts was used to fill a knot hole in a Douglas fir board. After curing the excess material was removed by sanding and the board was laminated with a phenolic-impregnated paper using a board press at 140.degree. and 14 kg/cm2 for 6 min. On cooling, the restored area showed no dimensional change, indicating that the present compns. do not react with the moisture of wood to cause foaming.

- Study of the compatibility of epoxy-phenolic compositions with film-forming agents of a magnetic coating by a photocolorimetric method. Nikolaev, P. V.; Balashov, A. V.; Ignatov, V. A.; Andreeva, V. I.Some commonly used reagents like 25068-38-6 and 50642-25-6 are used in this experiment. (Khim.-Tekhnol. Inst., Ivanovo, USSR). Lakokras. Mater. Ikh Primen., (6), 10-11 (Russian) 1983. CODEN: LAMAAD. ISSN: 0023-737X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 77 The compatibility is studied of epoxy resins E 05K [60730-62-3], E 04kr [67556-80-3], E 44, and E 41 and phenolic resins Oktofor N [75433-57-7], FL 57K [89072-81-1], 101K [25085-50-1], and 101LK [75433-58-8] with magnetic coating film-forming agents VAGH [25086-48-0], A 15-0 [50642-25-6], and nitrile rubber SKN 40. Epoxy resins and SKN 40 were incompatible, whereas both epoxy and phenolic resins were compatible with VAGH and A 15-0 and phenolic resins with SKN 40. The compatibility of phenolic resins and E 41 improved with increasing curing temp., but the other epoxy resins did not show such an increase. The poor compatibility of SKN 40 and epoxy resins was overcome by modifying SKN 40-contg. compns. with condensates of E 05K or E 44 with FL 57K. .
