Some PCB was found in the ash when whole capacitors were incinerated in rotary kilns, but not when hammermilled capacitors were burned. The compn. and particulate concn. of stack emissions were detd. by std. EPA Method 5.

- Improved method for washing of mononitrochlorobenzenes. Denisenko, G. I.; Kozorez, L. A. (USSR). Khim. Prom-st. (Moscow), (3), 147-8 (Russian) 1987. CODEN: KPRMAW. ISSN: 0023-110X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 45 (Industrial Organic Chemicals, Leather, Fats, and Waxes) Mononitrochlorobenzene (I) [25167-93-5] of high purity was obtained by a 5-stage washing of crude I; used aq. soda solns. were used as the washing medium in the 1st 2 stages, whereas fresh soda solns. were used in the next 3 stages. The waste soda solns. from the 1st and 2nd stage were subsequently combusted. The technol. scheme of the washing equipment was given. The proposed method gave I of high purity at ~30% decrease of the consumption of the soda soln., and a decrease of the amt. of waste soda soln. 7542-12-3 and 25167-93-5 are just another two chemicals used in this study. necessary to combust, compared to a washing procedure using water in the intermediate washing stages. .
