DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) The direct polycondensation reaction of ClPO(OPh)2 (I) [2524-64-3] as a new condensing agent in pyridine was used for the prepn. of polyarylene esters. High-mol. 67203-02-5 and 59964-25-9 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned.-wt. polymers can be prepd. by treating a pyridine soln. of dicarboxylic acids and I in the presence of LiCl, followed by treating with a pyridine soln. of bisphenols. Effects of the initial reaction of the acids and I, and of dropwise addn. of bisphenols on the polycondensation were investigated. Polycondensations of several hydroxybenzoic acids were also carried out with limited success. .

I and II caused a marked fall in heart rate and blood pressure within 2 min in normotensive rats. In 0.9% saline soln. at 5°, I retained about 50% maximal effect after 24 h, while II was fully active after 72 h. ..
