DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) The prepn. of a hydraulic fluid contg. .beta.-halopropyl thionophosphates and styrene oxide (I) [96-09-3] as additives is described. Thus, an additive conc. was formulated by blending I 39 parts by wt. tris(.beta.-chloropropyl) thionophosphate (II) [33712-72-0] 39, 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol [128-39-2], and neutral barium dionylnaphthalenesulfonate [25619-56-1], 20 parts by wt. Additives are blended with base stock fluids as follows: to 100 parts by wt. mineral oil is added 0.2 parts by wt. I stabilized II. 33712-72-0 and 128-39-2 are just another two chemicals used in this study. The mixt. is a stable mineral hydraulic oil. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) The influence of polar solvents on the adsorption phenomena of dinonylnaphthalenesulfonates and other additives on metal surfaces is examd. by ellipsometry. Ba dinonylnaphthalenesulfonate (I) [25619-56-1] adsorbed on a Au surface from hexane [110-54-3] soln. is not easily desorbed with hexane, whereas the film is desorbed with Me2CO [67-64-1]. The same result was obtained with Ca dinonylnaphthalenesulfonate [57855-77-3]. Succinimide dispersant is not easily desorbed by Me2CO. The same tendency was obsd. on Cr, and Fe alloy. When I is adsorbed from Me2CO soln. on Au, the adsorbed film consists of 2 layers, one of which is easily desorbed with Me2CO and the other not. The contact angles suggest that I adsorbed from hexane is different from that adsorbed from Me2CO in orientation. The adsorption behavior of I on Au from hexane-PrOH soln. is different from that on carbon black.
