Thus, monosodium N-lauroylglutamate [29923-31-7] 25, glycerin 10, polyethylene glycol 400 10, lauric acid 2.5, and water 46.5 parts were mixed, dissolved at 70°, and combined with a mixt. of hydrogenated castor oil (HLB value 14.0) 3 and glyceryl dioleate [25637-84-7] (HLB value 1.2) 3 parts. The stability of this cream at 0° was demonstrated. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Assays were carried out with the mouse brain cytosolic phorbol ester aporeceptor, which require phospholipids for activity. In the presence of phosphatidylserine at 0.96 mg/mL, diolein [25637-84-7] inhibited the specific binding of 3H-labeled phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate (PBt2)(I) [37558-16-0] in a dose-dependent fashion to <10% of control levels. The inhibition curves fit the curve expected for a competitive inhibitor and yielded a Ki of 3.6 mg/mL [0.38% (wt./wt.) the concn. of phosphatidylserine]. Scatchard anal. confirmed the competitive nature of the inhibition. At const. phospholipoid concns., the Ki detd. for diolein was independent of the diolein concns. over the range 1.5-80 mg/mL, suggesting that the inhibition did not arise simply by perturbation of the phospholipid bilayers. The Ki of diolein was approx. proportional to the abs. phospholipid concn. With phosphatidylserine at 4.8 mg/mL, for example, the Ki was 52 ng/mL (1.1% of phosphatidylserine). In addn. to diolein, the short-chain satd. diacylglycerol derivs. 1,3-dicaprylin [1429-66-9] and 1,3-dicaproin [17598-92-4] also inhibited [3H]PBt2 binding, whereas the long-chain satd. derivs. 1,2-dipalmitin [761-35-3] and 1,2-distearin [1188-58-5] were much less active. Thus, (1) diacylglycerol may act as an endogenous ligand for the phorbol ester receptor and (2) variation in lipid compn. provides a mechanism for modulating phorbol ester receptor affinity.Except for chemicals metioned above, 1188-58-5 and 1429-66-9 are also used. .
