Effects of intramolecular hydrogen bonding on solute retention in reversed-phase liquid chromatography
Effects of intramolecular hydrogen bonding on solute retention in reversed-phase liquid chromatography. Elution characteristics of some isomeric benzamides. Clark, C. Randall; Wells, Martha J. M.; Sansom, Ricky T.; Humerick, Jeffrey L.; Brown, William B.; Commander, Betty J. (Sch. Pharm., Auburn Univ., Auburn, AL 36849, USA). J. Chromatogr. Sci., 22(2), 75-9 (English) 1984. CODEN: JCHSBZ. ISSN: 0021-9665. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 80 (Organic Analytical Chemistry) The reversed-phase liq. chromatog. elution properties of some isomeric benzamides are reported. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 7291-34-1 and 2585-23-1 in this article. The ortho isomer for each series of compds. displays retention properties dissimilar to its meta and para counterparts. Enhanced chromatog. retention occurs in those ortho-substituted benzamides capable of forming an intramol. H bond. For those substituents incapable of internal hydrogen-bond formation the ortho isomer displays reduced retention relative to the meta and para isomers. .
