DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) The binding properties of tritiated cortisol (I) [50-23-7], fluorocortolone [152-97-6], and difluocortolone [2607-06-9] by human plasma, human albumin, and human-b- and g-globulins were studied by equil. dialysis. I, in physiol. concns. (0,4 mmol/L), was 98% bound in human plasma at 25°, fluocortolone 96%, and difluocortolone 85%. The binding affinities of b- and g-globulins were very low for the corticoids, but they were higher for fluocortolone and difluocortolone than for I. The results may explain the high biol. activity of 9a-fluorocorticoids such as dexamethasone.
