For example, addn. of 0.87 part TiCl4 to a soln. of 4,3-Me(EtNH)C6H3OH [120-37-6] 15 and MeCOCH2CO2Et [141-97-9] 15 in PhCl 200 parts and heating the mixt. 3 h at 120-5° gave I (R = Et, R1 = H, R2 = R3 = Me) [26078-25-1] in 92.5% yield.
