Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by N-acetyl-glycine ethyl ester. This reaction will need reagent water and ammonia.

Uses of Acetamide,N-(2-amino-2-oxoethyl)-: it can be used to produce 6-phenyl-4-thiophen-2-yl-1H-pyridin-2-one at temperature of 140 °C. It will need reagent Cs₂CO₃ and solvent adimethylformamide with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 70%.
