DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Compns. having thermistor B coeffs. ~8000 were prepd. from PVC [9002-86-2], a cationic or anionic surfactant, and tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite (I) [26523-78-4] or diphenyltridecyl phosphite [60628-17-3]. Thus, a compn. contg. PVC 100, a trimellitate plasticizer 50, a cationic surfactant 2, and I 1 part had thermistor B coeff. 8216.

Massy, (7), 38-9 (Russian) 1978. CODEN: PLMSAI. ISSN: 0554-2901. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The av. mol. wt. of polystyrene (I) [9003-53-6] increases with increasing polyner content in each stage of polymn. at an identical temp., in agreement with data on a decrease in the chain scission rate with increasing d.p. The av. mol. wt. of the I matrix in the product decreased in successive polymn. stages due to an increase in temp., with the sharpest decrease occurring after heating the product prior to removal of the residual monomer. The total reaction rate and the initial monomer conversion had no effect on the av. mol. wt. of I. The av. mol. wt. of I increased to 50,000 on polymn. at temps. £220° in the presence of tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite (II) [26523-78-4] as heat stabilizer. The mol. wt. distribution curve of I has an asym. shape with the greatest asymmetry obsd. at the 3rd stage of polymn. (temp. 240°). Decreasing the temp. of this stage to 220° and addn. of II decreased sharply the asymmetry of the mol. wt. distribution curve of I.
