Biotransformation of olivetol by Syncephalastrum racemosum
Biotransformation of olivetol by Syncephalastrum racemosum. McClanahan, Robert H.; Robertson, Larry W. (Coll. Pharm., Ohio State Univ., Columbus, OH 43210, USA). J. Nat. Prod., 47(5), 828-34 (English) 1984. CODEN: JNPRDF. 26539-01-5 is the cas registry number. This chemical is also mentioned in this article. ISSN: 0163-3864. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 10 (Microbial Biochemistry) A study of the biotransformation of olivertol (I) by S. racemosum ATCC 18192 has led to the isolation 3 metabolites, 4'-hydroxy-olivetol (II), 3-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-1-propanol, and 3-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-1-propanoic acid. The structures of the isolated metabolites were deduced by comparison of their spectral properties (pmr, cmr, ms) with those of I. The abs. configuration of II was detd. to be R by the Horeau partial resoln. method. Biotransformation of I therefore appears to occur by a subterminal oxidn. process. .
