Thus, tetrazotized 4,3'-diaminobenzanilide was coupled first with 6-hydroxy-4-methyl-1-[3-(methylamino)propyl]-2-pyridone (II) and then with the 3-pyridinium chloride betaine form of II to give a dye (lmax 435 nm), brilliant yellow on paper. .
