Of the anionic resins, Satilan PLZ (III) [26591-12-8], formaldehyde-melamine copolymer (IV) [9003-08-1] and Rolavin AH extra [52012-72-3], a surfactant, combination with I showed a marked retention effect. Of cationic resins, Polarmyl [91825-47-7], cationic starch, in combination with I showed noticeable effect on retention. While the I increased kaolin retention from 29% to 69%, by the combination with III, a filler retention of 80% was obtained with II, III and IV yielded no retention effect.

Dicyandiamideformaldehyde copolymer [26591-12-8], another constituent of the lubricants, was more active than paraffin emulsion and less allergenic than lubricants No.78 and 80, whereas dibutyl sebacate [109-43-3] was less allergenic than any of the other above mentioned chems. formaldehyde [50-00-0] and epichlorohydrin [106-89-8], both of which are products of lubricant degrdn., and thus present in a working environment, were least allergenic and completely non-allergenic, resp.
