Development of a new cosmetic O/W emulsion system stabilized with insoluble complexes
Development of a new cosmetic O/W emulsion system stabilized with insoluble complexes. Takemoto, Shizume; Tsugita, Akira; Mori, Kenji; Yoneya, Tohru; Otani, Yasuhisa (Cosmet. Lab., Kanebo, Ltd., Odawara 250, Japan). J. SCCJ, 17(1), 52-9 (Japanese) 1983. CODEN: JOSCDQ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 62 (Essential Oils and Cosmetics) To obtain emulsions highly safe for human skin, a new oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion system stabilized with insol. materials was developed. Emulsification methods utilizing Na montmorillonite (Na-Mont) [56-81-5] and various org. polar substances were investigated. Stable O/W emulsion were obtained by combining Na-Mont and compds. such as glycerol monopalmitate [26657-96-5]. Na-Mont formed insol. complexes with the compds. in this emulsion system. The complexes surrounded the oil droplets and that the droplets were fixed by network structures formed by the interaction of Na-Mont in the aq. phase. These configurations stabilize the emulsions. This new O/W emulsion system was named The Insol. Complex Emulsion System. Cosmetic emulsions such as milky lotions, skin creams, cleansing creams and foundation creams can be prepd. using this emulsion system. Two major advantages of the emulsions are good waterproofing ability and relatively small change in their viscosity or hardness with temp. Various evaluation tests with exptl. 56-81-5 is just another one chemical used in this study. animals show that the products using this emulsion system are highly safe. .

Univ. Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Fed. Rep. Ger.). Acta Pharm. Technol., 30(1), 10-16 (German) 1984. CODEN: APTEDD. ISSN: 0340-3157. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 46 (Surface Active Agents and Detergents) Section cross-reference(s): 63 The structures of glycerol monostearate [31566-31-1]-glycerol monopalmitate [26657-96-5] mixts. (dry or water-contg.) contg. Na stearate (I) [822-16-2], Na stearyl sulfate (II) [1120-04-3], or Na lauryl sulfate (III) [151-21-3] were studied by x-ray diffraction, DSC, and polarizing microscopy. Monoglyceride mixts. contg. I or II formed mixed crystals which showed the same polymorphic transitions in the dry and water-contg. state. The metastable a modification formed from the melt was transformed into the b modification upon expulsion of interlamellar-bound water. III did not form mixed crystals with the monoglycerides. .
