DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) The mol. structure of polypropadiene [24979-93-9], 1,2-butadiene polymer [26160-98-5], and 3-methyl-1,2-butadiene polymer [26702-92-1], each prepd. by 3 different types of transition-metal catalyst systems, was dependent upon the type of catalyst used. The catalyst systems used were a) TiCl4/Et3Al, b) p-allylnickel halides [(p-C3H5NiX)2, where X = Cl [12145-00-5], X = Br [12012-90-7], or X = I [12145-06-1]], and c) NiCl2 [7718-54-9]/Et3Al. The mol. structures were detd. by NMR, IR, and mass spectroscopy and discussed in terms of the polymn. of alkoxyallenes and other substituted allenes.
