Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2,2'-disulfanediyl-di-benzoic acid diamide by heating. This reaction will need reagent LiAlH4 and solvent diethyl ether with the reaction time of 5 hours. The yield is about 32%.

Uses of 2,1-Benzisothiazole: it can be used to produce 7-cyano-benzo[b]thiophene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester by irradiation. It will need solvent CCl4. The yield is about 70%.
