DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 44 (Industrial Carbohydrates) Section cross-reference(s): 55 The transesterification of Me myristate (I) [124-10-7] with sucrose (II) [57-50-1] in DMF contg. dry K2CO3 gave mixts. of monomyristate (III) [27216-47-3], dimyristate (IV) [30701-38-3] and trimyristate (V) [29063-61-4] of II. The compn. of the product mixt. depended on the I-II mol. ratios. For example, at 1:5 ratio the mixt. contained 90.2% III and 9.8% IV, while 2:1 ratio gave 39.4:36.5:24.1 III-IV-V mixt. The mixts. contg. high proportions of III could be used as corrosion inhibitors for steel [12597-69-2].
