(200-600 mg/mL) of medroxyprogesterone acetate (I acetate) [71-58-9] for parenteral administration comprise Na2SO4 .apprx.1.0-2.2, a quaternary ammonium wetting agent .apprx.0.2-2.0, and .apprx.2.7-7.0% of an alc. from the group of glycerol, propylene glycol, etc. In addn., these may contain .ltoreq.1.0% of a nonionic hydrophilic colloid. Thus, a compn. suitable for parenteral administration was prepd. by dissolving myristyl-.gamma.-picolinium chloride [2748-88-1] 2, poly(vinylpyrrolidinone) [9003-39-8] 2, Na2SO4 11.14, and polyethylene glycol 4000 [25322-68-3] 20.76 g in water to make 700 mL. The resulting soln. was sterilized. At the time of use sufficient aq. compn. was added to 500 mg of micronized and sterilized I acetate to make 1 mL suspension.
