The adsorption consts. followed this order: methyl parathion [298-00-0] < fenarimol [60168-88-9] < carbaryl [63-25-2] < benthiocarb [28249-77-6] < butachlor [23184-66-9] < pendimethalin [40487-42-1] < nitrofen [1836-75-5]. 2,4-D [94-75-7] and methomyl [16752-77-5] were not adsorbed by soils and thus they had the highest leachability from soil columns of different depths; pendimethalin had lowest (0) leachability.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Direct seeded bunded rice or gogorancah rice often suffers from water stress and serious weed infestation, esp. during the 1st 6 wk of the growing season. The effects of 3 methods of land prepn. before seeding and of weeding and various herbicides on the nos. and types of weeds were examd. Conventional tillage gave heavy infestations of grasses and sedges. Min. tillage by slicing the soil at 2-3 cm depth and plowing once followed by glyphosate [1071-83-6] (1.2 kg/ha) resulted in heavy infestation by grasses. There were no significant differences in grain yields among all the soil tillage methods tested. The application of thiobencarb [28249-77-6]/propanil [709-98-8] (4.8 kg/ha) at 14 days after seeding best suppressed the weeds and gave the highest yield. This yield was 34% higher than that in plots weeded twice. Yield losses due to weed competition ranged from 31 to 69%.
