Disperse Red 11 (III) [2872-48-2] from paper to double-knit acrylic jersey increased with increasing temp. but at >190° fabric yellowing occurred. Transfer from the paper to the fabric reached equil. 2832-40-8 and 2872-48-2 are also in the experiment. in 60 s for I and III, while II required 140 s. Calcd. partition coeffs. for the 3 dispersed dyes were correlated with soly. parameters. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 39 (Textiles) Both the anion and the cation of added electrolytes affect the electrokinetic potential (.zeta.) of azo dyes Disperse Scarlet Zh (I, R = H)(II) [2872-52-8] and Disperse Red-Brown (I, R = Cl)(III) [6232-56-0] in aq. dispersion. In distd. water .zeta. = -27.8 mV for II and .zeta. = -25.7 mV for III. With added NaCl the abs. value of .zeta. passes through a shallow max. at electrolyte concn. <10-7N and then decreases. With added BaCl2 the abs. value of .zeta. only decreases with increasing concn. of electrolyte. With added AlCl3 .zeta. changes sharply above 10-5N and becomes pos. below 10-3N. With NaH2PO4, Na2HPO4, and Na3PO4 the abs. value of .zeta. passes through a min. (-10 to -20 mV) in the range 10-6-10-4N. Such electrolytes can be used to modify the dyeing process.
