The oxygenated compds. were sepd. into 6 fractions by chromatog. on silica gel with pentane-Et2O (4:1). Individual fractions were sepd. further by chromatog. on low-pressure silica gel 60 columns with pentane-Et2O (1:3) at 11.5 mL/min, and compds. were detected at 220 nm. Me cinnamate [103-26-4], neral [106-26-3], and geranial [141-27-5] were identified in 1 fraction of the fruit oil. TLC was used to det. the best mobile phase. A similar optimization procedure was used to sep. and identify the furanoid terpenes galodendrolide [92481-54-4], fraxinellone [28808-62-0], and isofraxinellone [92481-63-5] in the highly polar fraction of the pentane ext. of D. albus roots.
