DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Section cross-reference(s): 63 Phenylephrine (I) [59-42-7] was detd. in the presence of its degrdn. products by reaction with NBS [128-08-5]. I reacted with NBS in HOAc to give succinimide, HCHO [50-00-0], MeNH2 [74-89-5] and 2-bromo-5-hydroxybenzaldehyde [2973-80-0]. Excess NBS was detd. iodometrically. I recovery was 100%. Eye drops contg. 0.1% I-HCl were prepd. and exposed to sunlight for 7 mo. and then the severly discolored soln. was assayed by the proposed method.In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 74-89-5 and 59-42-7 I recovery was 70%. The detection limit is 0.2 mg. .
