DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) In artificial gastric and intestinal juices, norcantharidin [29745-04-8] was converted to 7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (I) [145-73-3] as detd. by IR spectroscopy. The dissocn. const. of I was 4.02 (pKa1) and 5.86 (pKa2). I existed as the dissocn. form (Ci) and mol. form (Cm) in the human body fluid, and the Cm was readily absorbed by the stomach. After oral administration, blood contained 99.6% Ci and 0.04% Cm and the stomach contained 99.75% Cm and 0.25% Ci as detd. by the Henderson-Hasselbach equation.

PGE2 levels in the lung, stomach, and intestine were high (44.38, 41.13, and 49.72 ng/g, resp.) compared with the levels in the liver and tumor (10. 33419-42-0 and 29745-04-8 which are cas registry numbers are also used here.52 and 20.49 ng/g, resp.). PGE2 contents of the liver were markedly increased 1 h after i.p. of etoposidum (zuyeyidal, VP16-213) at 20 mg/kg (46.03 ng/g). In the other organs no significant change was obsd. PGE2 contents of tumor were markedly reduced 1 h after i.p. of harringtonine at 1 mg/kg (12.60 ng/g). After HPD (hematoporphyrin deriv.) and norcantharidin administration (20 mg/kg or 40 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg, i.p., resp.), PGE2 concns. of various organs showed no significant change. .
