DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) The stability of ~50-80% aq. emulsions of the epoxy resin ED-20 [25068-38-6] increased with increasing mol. wt. and HLB value of block polyethylene-polypropylene glycol (I) [9003-11-6] from 1650 to 17,000 and 9.6 to 15.05, resp. Increasing the concn. of I from 1.0 to 5.0 phr had no significant effect on the shelf life and film properties of emulsions. Results with anionic surfactants were similar. Phase reversal diagrams are given for I, dihexyl Na sulfosuccinate [3006-15-3], and Na bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate [577-11-7].

L.; Grabarovskaya, A. F. (L'vov. Gos. Univ. im. Franko, Lvov, USSR). Zh. Prikl. Khim. (Leningrad), 50(1), 68-71 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: ZPKHAB. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 66 (Surface Chemistry and Colloids) Adsorption of anion-active surfactants [Na dodecylsulfate (I), and Na salts of dihexyl and diheptyl sulfosuccinate (II and III, resp.)], cation-active surfactant cetylpyridinium bromide (IV), and nonionogenic surfactant OP-10 from 1.7N HNO3 solns. was studied on thin Zn-alloy plates (30 .times. 30 .times. 1.7 mm) at 25 and 35.degree.. The micelles of the anion-active surfactants formed on the Zn alloy surface a more complex adsorption layer than did micelles of IV or OP-10, whereas, the adsorption energy was independent of the type of surfactant. Adsorption heats (Q) of I, II, III and IV were 206.3, 962.1, 390.8, and 185.5 cal/mol, resp. The low Q values of IV and OP-10 (55.6 cal/mol) reflect the low adsorption capacity of Zn for these surfactants. .
