Thus, a mixt. contg. dioctanoyl peroxide [762-16-3] 0.032-0.067, Bz2O2 [94-36-0] 0.035-0.44, and I 0.0035 part was added to a mixt. contg. water 27, 36% aq. CaCl2 0.226, styrene 18.8, stearic acid 0.021, Bu stearate 0.099, and heavy white oil 0.11 part at 65° with stirring. The reaction mixt. was heated to 72° and mixed with 0.05 part Na3PO4 and 1.4 ′ 10-4 part Na C16-18-alkanesulfonates. The reaction mixt. was heated from 80 to 110° over 7 h or from 80 to 120° over 5 h to give polystyrene [9003-53-6] with residual monomer content 0.2% and melt flow index 15-17 g/10 min at 200°. .
