DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 29 (Organometallic and Organometalloidal Compounds) Reaction of dibutyltin oxides xBu2SnO [x = n (normal), i (iso), s (secondary) and t (tertiary)] with carboxylic acids (RCOOH; R = Me, Et, Me2CH, Me3C) in 1:1 and 1:2 stoichiometry were investigated. The products formed in these reactions were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) data. Reactions in 1:2 stoichiometry afforded dibutyltin dicarboxylates which have six-coordinate tin atoms. Steric effects of the Bu group and the R group of the carboxylate ligand play an important role in 1:1 reactions. Dicarboxylatotetraorganostannoxanes were formed with Bu2SnO while hydroxo complexes [tert-Bu2Sn(m-OH)(OOCR)]2 were the sole products with tert-Bu2SnO.Some commonly used reagents like 30547-28-5 is used in this experiment. The stereochem. of all these complexes is discussed on the basis of NMR data. .
