DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 29 (Organometallic and Organometalloidal Compounds) Section cross-reference(s): 75 Redn. of titanocene difluoride (Cp2TiF2) with 1.5 equiv of potassium in toluene at 60-100° affords the dinuclear h5:h5-fulvalene complex [(h5-C5H5)Ti(m-F)]2(m-h5:h5-C10H8) (2). 2 Was also obtained via reaction of Me3SnF with the corresponding chloride and hydride compds. [(h5-C5H5)Ti(m-X)]2(m-h5:h5-C10H8) (X = Cl, H). 185854-71-1 and 309-89-7 which are cas registry numbers are also used here. 2 Has been characterized by mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, and chem. analyses. The mol. structure of 2, as detd. by the x-ray crystal structural analyses, reveals a Ti2F2 fragment sym. folded along the Ti-Ti direction and assuming a butterfly configuration with a dihedral angle of 27.6(2)°. A dihedral angle of 15.3(3)° is obsd. between the two C5H4 rings of the folded fulvalene ligand. .
