Addn. of halogen-free transition-metal derivs. to the catalyst improved the yield. The selectivity of RuO2-Bu4P+I- [3115-66-0] was 60% for I and 76% for C1-3 alcs. Turnover frequencies exceeded 10-2 s-1. Rh-Ru catalysts gave 30% glycol derivs. AcOH (68%) was prepd. using certain Ru-rich melt catalysts. Continuous processing and the parameters affecting it are discussed. .
