DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 29 (Organometallic and Organometalloidal Compounds) Reaction of Me2N(CH2)3COOK with ClCH2SiR3 (R3 = Me3, Me2Et, MeEt2, Et3, MeEtPh, Ph3) in DMF gave 37-95% Me2N(CH2)3CO2CH2SiR3 (I; same R3). Treating I (R3 = Me3, Me2Et, Et3) with MeI in Et2O gave 48-56% [Me3N+(CH2)3CO2SiR3]I-. I have weakly fungicidal activity, while the MeI adducts show herbicidal activity. .
