- Expression in Streptomyces ambofaciens of an Escherichia coli K-12 gene which confers resistance to hygromycin B. Kuhstoss, S.; Rao, R. Nagaraja (Lilly Res. Lab., Indianapolis, IN 46285, USA). Gene, 26(2-3), 295-9 (English) 1983. CODEN: GENED6. ISSN: 0378-1119. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 3 (Biochemical Genetics) Two plasmid vectors (pKC293 and pKC305) were constructed that can replicate in E. coli K-12 and S. 1404-04-2 and 77000-12-5 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned. ambofaciens. These shuttle vectors were used to demonstrate the expression of 2 E. coli genes, hygromycin B [31282-04-9] resistance and transposon Tn5 neomycin [1404-04-2] resistance, in S. ambofaciens. .
- The in vitro activity of various anthelmintic compounds against Haemonchus contortus larvae
- The in vitro activity of various anthelmintic compounds against Haemonchus contortus larvae. Some chemicals with cas registry numbers like 14769-73-4 and 7181-73-9 are also used. Boisvenue, R. J.; Brandt, M. C.; Galloway, R. B.; Hendrix, J. C. (Parasitol. Dep., Eli Lilly and Co., Greenfield, IN 46140, USA). Vet. Parasitol., 13(4), 341-7 (English) 1983. CODEN: VPARDI. ISSN: 0304-4017. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Twenty-five known anthelmintic compds. were evaluated in vitro against the highly motile exsheathed nonfeeding 3rd-stage of H. contortus larvae. Activity was based on lack of motility or death of larvae after 24 h of chem. exposure. Six compds. (avermectin [73989-17-0], closantel [57808-65-8], levamisole [14769-73-4], morantel [20574-50-9], phenylhydrazine [100-63-0], and ticarbodine [31932-09-9]) were active at a concn. of £100 mg/cm3. The most active compds. were avermectin and levamisole. When higher in vitro concns. were used, 10 compds. (bephenium [7181-73-9], coumaphos [56-72-4], dichlorovos [62-73-7], disophenol [305-85-1], hygromycin b [31282-04-9], methyridine [114-91-0], parbendazole [14255-87-9], phenothiazine [92-84-2], pyrantel [15686-83-6], and thiabendazole [148-79-8]) exhibited activity. Nine compds. were inactive; among these were the new benzimidazoles, i.e., albendazole, fenbendazole, mebendazole, and oxibendazole. Because of the inactivity of the new benzimidazoles, this in vitro system is unsuitable as a routine screening tool. Also, the system favors drugs that act quickly through percuticular entry. In an initial group of 5280 untested compds., 254 (4.8%) exhibited in vitro activity at 100 mg/cm3 against the nonfeeding larvae stage. The exogenous and in vitro cultivation techniques required for collecting, cleaning and exsheathing the larvae are described. .
