In the past, conclusions concerning the nature of the final redn. product were made, based on the amt. of electrons required for the redn. In this study, the electron requirements were detd. for different nitroimidazoles. These data showed that the redn. pathway is much more complex than previously suggested. Hence, although some integral values might suggest the primary formation of single redn. products, an interpretation which is too straightforward, as made previously, is inappropriate. .
