The solid phase is used as feed. Prior to filtering, ground corn stalk particles of 0.8-1.0 mm and bentonite (15-20% and 5-10% of the mash by wt., resp.) were added successively to the mash while mixing. The solid phase was washed with a filtrate in the 1st stage and the filtrate treated with calcined soda to pH 6.0-6.5°. The solid phase was dried to 5-10% moisture content.
