Tetrahydrofurfuryl octanoate (II) [33601-75-1] and N,N-dibutyl-o-ethoxybenzamide (III) [15823-54-8] provided the best protection against Simulium metallicum, S. quadrivittatum, and S. callidum in Costa Rica. The effectiveness of 1-butyl-4-methylcarbostyril [32511-84-5] and 3-chloro-1-propanol carbanilate [7507-38-2] was least decreased by a simulated 5.08 cm rainfall. .
