NCL: 204181000. APPLICATION: US 74-519409 31 Oct 1974. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Electrophoretic coatings for application to cathodic substrates were prepd. from a polymer having pendant mercaptan groups and a bismaleimide crosslinker. Thus, a propylene glycol-succinic anhydride copolymer [58162-07-5] was treated with excess 3-mercaptopropionic acid [107-96-0], and 100 g of the resulting mercaptan-terminated resin was mixed with 30 g N,N'-(p-phenylene)bismaleimide [3278-31-7] and sufficient water to form an 8% nonvolatile dispersion. A steel panel was cathodically coated in this bath 2 min at 60 V and cured 15 min at 360.degree.F to give a solvent-resistant coating.

CLASS: IC: C08G018-83. APPLICATION: JP 75-56619 10 May 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Polybutadienediol was treated with a diisocyanate, polymd. with a diol, and cured with maleimide derivs. to give a heat-resistant resin. For example, 30 g Nisso PBG-1000 [51004-96-7] in 90 g EtCOMe at 80.degree. was treated with 6.96 g 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate [584-84-9] over 40 min, stirred at 80-1.Some commonly used reagents like 101-68-8 and 2556-36-7 are used in this experiment.degree. for 2 h to NCO equiv. 1800, and heated with 2.45 g bisphenol A [80-05-7] at 80.degree. for 8 h to give polybutadiene polyurethane (softening at 120.degree.) soln. which was mixed with dicumyl peroxide 1.30, N,N'-p-phenylene dimaleimide [3278-31-7] 1.97, and N-phenylmaleimide [941-69-5] 1.97g and cured at 140.degree. for 30 min and at 170.degree. for 3 h to give yellowish brown plastic with moisture absorption (50.degree. H2O, 24 h) 0.045%, no wt. loss in 30% H2SO4 or 10% aq. NaOH in 7 days, heat resistance (200.degree., 800 h, wt. loss) 1.2%, decompn. point 430.degree., and heat distortion temp. .gtoreq.250.degree.. .
