Thus, I was prepd. by adding EtBr [74-96-4] (572 g) to a soln. of 1000 g 4-amino-6-tert-butyl-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one [33509-43-2] in 1N NaOH soln. at 50°. 4-Amino-6-tert-butyl-2-ethyl-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one-3(2H)-thione [91990-73-7] was obtained with I as a byproduct (19%). A wettable powder formulation was prepd. contg. I 60, arylalkylsulfonate 3, spent sulfite liquor 3, HCHO-cyclohexanone-NaHSO3 condensate 5, and silicic acid + Al2O3 10 parts. I was superior to its homolog (4-amino-6-tert-butyl-3-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one) in weed control. Combinations of I with other known herbicides, e.g. triallate [2303-17-5], diallate [2303-16-4], difenzoquat [49866-87-7], benzoylprop-ethyl [22212-55-1], flamprop-isopropyl [52756-22-6], flamprop-methyl [52756-25-9], dichlofop-methyl [51338-27-3], or chlorfenprop-methyl [14437-17-3] also are claimed.
