Abe, Yasuo; Sekiguchi, Haruo; Tsuru, Kiyoyuki; Irikura, Tsutomu (Kyorin Cent. Res. Lab., Kyorin Pharm. Co. Ltd., Tochigi 329, Japan). Nippon Yakurigaku Zasshi, 84(1), 11-18 (Japanese) 1984. CODEN: NYKZAU. ISSN: 0015-5691. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Pretreatment of rats with KU-54 (I) [30751-05-4] (200 mg/kg/day for 5 days, orally) increased the incorporation of 14C-labeled glucosamine [3416-24-8] into the acid-insol. fraction of the gastric mucosa, without affecting the incorporation into the liver. Similarly, the hydrocortisone-induced decrease in glucosamine incorporation into the gastric mucosa, but not that into the liver, was inhibited by I pretreatment. I had only limited effects on glucosamine incorporation into, and disappearance from, gastric ulcer.

- The inhibitory effect of D-glucosamine on thymidine kinase in chick embryo retinas and HeLa cells. Tesoriere, G.; Tesoriere, L.; Vento, R.; Giuliano, M.; Cantoro, G. (Ist. Chimn. Biol., Univ. Palermo, Palermo I-90127, Italy). Experientia, 40(7), 705-7 (English) 1984. CODEN: EXPEAM. ISSN: 0014-4754. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) D-Glucosamine [3416-24-8] markedly inhibits thymidine [50-89-5] incorporation into the TCA-insol. fraction and thymidine kinase [9002-06-6] activity in HeLa cells. Both the inhibitory effects are also obsd. in isolated retinas of chick embryos; in this case the inhibitory effects are age-dependent and the magnitude of the responses decreases with embryonic development. In addn., the time of exposure to D-glucosamine necessary for the inhibitory effect on thymidine kinase increases with the age of the embryos.
