Thus, ~0.1-g powder was extd. with 25 mL MeOH, and the ext. was subjected to anal. by HPLC with a column contg. Nucleosil C18 as stationary phase [MeOH-NH4OAc (.1) as mobile phase]. The peak height was linearly related to concns. of 0.1-1.0 mg. Reproducibility with a relative std. deviation of 1.75-3.24% was obsd. Alkaloid concns. in the stem were 0.067, 0.011, 0.008, 0.096 and 0.012%, resp.
