DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Berberine (I) [2086-83-1] was successfully detd.There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 633-65-8 and 3486-66-6 are used in this study. by ion-pair HPLC on 3 kinds of silanol-free columns, TSK gel ODS-120T, LiChrosorb RP-Select B and LiChrosorb RP-2. Each mobile phase was a mixt. of MeCN, H2O, tartaric acid and Na lauryl ulfate as an anion of I-complex. The presence of the homologous alkaloids, palmatine [3486-67-7], coptisine [3486-66-6] and jatrorrhizine [3621-38-3], did not interfere with the I peak in the chromatogram. Addn. of MeCN to the mobile phase shortened the retention times (tR) of I and the homologous alkaloids. The log k values of these compds. decreased proportionately with the fraction of MeCN in the mobile phase. The tR of I increased with a decrease in temp. of each column. The calibration curve for I based on peak height was linear and passed through the origin in the range of 0.04-1.40 mg as I chloride. .
