- Effect of the subacute and chronic toxicity of monochlorodibromotrifluoroethane (1,1,2-trifluoro-1,2-dibromo-2-chloroethane) on cholesterol metabolism. Nemirovskii, O. N. (Leningr. Sanit.-Gig. Med. Inst., Leningrad, USSR). Tr. Leningr. Sanit.-Gig. Med. Inst., 111, 24-9 (Russian) 1975. CODEN: TLSMA6. ISSN: 0371-9367. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) In subacute expts. on rats, liver cholesterol [57-88-5] levels increased after the initial 10-day exposure and subsequently to normal levels after 20-40 days of inhalation of the title compd. [354-51-8]. Blood levels remained decreased through the 40 days of the expt. In chronic expts. on rabbits, a decrease was obsd. in cholesterol levels in the blood after 60-120 days of exposure, with the levels returning to initial values at the end of the expt. (180 days). Liver dystrophy was obsd. at the end of the chronic expts. in the test animals. Apparently changes in cholesterol metab. are due to pathol. changes taking place both in the central nervous system and in the liver.

The effect of the cathode material on the electrochemical activation and dehalogenation of C-2 freons. Titov, V. E.; Mishura, A. M.; Koshechko, V. G. (L. V. Pisarzhevskii Institute of Physical Chemistry, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kiev 03028, Ukraine). Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry, 42(4), 224-228 (English) 2006 Springer. CODEN: TEXCAK. ISSN: 0040-5760. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 22 The effect of the cathode material (GC, Pt, Ag) on the electrophilic dehalogenation of C-2 Freons [F113 (CF2ClCFCl2), F113B2 (CF2BrCFClBr), and F114B2 (CF2BrCF2Br)] was studied. Such reactions give valuable chlorotrifluoro-or tetrachloroethylenes. A Ag cathode has a promoting effect on the studied processes compared with the other materials (GC, Pt). The optimum reaction conditions within the present study were detd. .
