Identification of dyes in skin creams
Identification of dyes in skin creams. Lehmann, Guenter; Binkle, Barbara; Beck, Karin (Fachbereich Anal. Biol. Chem., Univ. Saarlandes, Saarbruecken D-6600, Fed. Rep. Ger.). Seifen, Oele, Fette, Wachse, 112(16), 565-7 (German) 1986. CODEN: SOFWAF. ISSN: 0037-0983. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 62 (Essential Oils and Cosmetics) Anionic or cation dyes are identified in cosmetic creams by formation of ion pairs with counter ions (e.g. cetylpyridinium chloride [123-03-5] and pentanesulfonic acid [35452-30-3]) which could be extd. into the org. phase. The creams were dissolved in DMF contg. acids and mixed with water. The aq. phase was treated with cetylpyridinium chloride or pentanesulfonic acid. The dye complexes were extd. with CH2Cl2 and the dyes were identified by using TLC. The isolation of the dyes from liq. formulations was easier than from the formulations with high fatty contents. Emulsifiers caused clean up problems.
Selection of mixed ion-pair modifiers for high-performance liquid chromatographic mobile phases
Selection of mixed ion-pair modifiers for high-performance liquid chromatographic mobile phases. Costanzo, Samuel J. (Norwich Eaton Pharm., Inc., Norwich, NY 13815, USA). J. Chromatogr., 314, 402-7 (English) 1984. CODEN: JOCRAM. ISSN: 0021-9673. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Several compds. (benzoic acid [65-85-0], phenylpropanolamine [14838-15-4], guaifenesin [93-14-1], and phenylephrine [59-42-7]) were detd. in a cough/cold formulation by HPLC with a mixed ion-pair mobile phase contg. MeCN, pentanesulfonic acid [35452-30-3], and heptanesulfonic acid [60586-80-3]. The stationary phase was Partisil-10, C8. Relative std. deviations ranged 1-2.5%, and recoveries were ~100%.
