A detrusor reflex occurred in 10 of 12 dogs (83%). Mean threshold pressure and vol. were 31 cm H2O and 22 mL/kg, resp. Tonus limb II varied inversely with threshold vol. Threshold vol. varied directly with body wt.; threshold pressure was independent of body wt.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Schirmer I tear tests were done on 10 cats before and during anesthesia with ketamine [6740-88-1] in combination with acetylpromazine maleate [3598-37-6], with and without atropine sulfate [55-48-1] as a preanesthetic agent. Use of atropine sulfate alone decreased tear prodn. from a mean base-line value of 16.9 mm/min to 8.2 mm/min, 10 min after its s.c. administration. Tear prodn. continued to decrease from 8.2 mm/min to a mean of 2.3 mm/min at 30 min after the administration of the ketamine and acetylpromazine maleate combination.
