- Determination of the pigmenting carotenoids in feeds and premixes for laying hens and broilers. Manz, Ulrich; Vuilleumier, Jean Paul (F. Hoffmann-La Roche und Co., A.-G., Basel, Switz.). Z. Lebensm.-Unters.There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 3604-90-8 and 1109-11-1 are used in this study. Forsch., 163(1), 21-4 (German) 1977. CODEN: ZLUFAR. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Foods) A method for the quant. detn. of the main carotenoids, such as bixin [6983-79-5], canthaxanthin [514-78-3], capsanthin [465-42-9], .beta.-carotene [7235-40-7], citranaxanthin [3604-90-8], lutein [127-40-2], zeaxanthin [144-68-3], and .beta.-apo-8-carotenoic acid Et ester [1109-11-1], in feeds and premixes for laying hens and broilers is described. The method has, compared to the known anal. procedures, several advantages: differentiation between lutein and zeaxanthin, which have different pigmentation properties; redn. of distribution errors for added carotenoids by increasing sample wts.; individual detn. of added carotenoids which have different pigmentation activities. .
