The method of math. planning, (method of abrupt ascent) was used. The concn. of HNO3 soln. (used for extn.) X1, ratio of the amts. of HNO3 and rice bran X2, time of extn. X3, temp. X4 and no. of rotations of mixer used X5, were used as independent factors for evaluation. An equation incorporating all these factors was derived. The optimum conditions for the extn. are: HNO3 concn. 9.5%, time 20 min, and room temp. By this method, 70% I was extd.
