In addn., oxyberberine [549-21-3] and thaliglucinone [35988-96-6] were obtained in very minor amts. I and II are new bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids. Hernandezine, thalistyline, thalidezine, thalistyline methodiiodide, and N-demethylthalistyline had activity against Mycobacterium smegmatis at 100 mg/mL or less. Five alkaloids possessed hypotensive activity.
