Photolysis of I in MeOH gave an 80% yield of 3a,5-di-tert-butyl-3,3a,4,6a-tetrahydro-1-hydroxy-1-methyl-1H-cyclopent a[c]furan-4-one [64821-74-5]. Possible mechanisms were proposed.
